What are the starting-points of the Foundation of Friends of St. Petersburg
Cultural
The foundation considers the organisation of exhibitions, concerts,
lectures and the performance of artists, both in St. Petersburg and
in the Netherlands as an important task. To this also belongs the
promotion of contacts between universities and institutes in
St. Petersburg and the Netherlands.
Dutch Church
The foundation supports the conservation and management of the
former Dutch Church in St. Petersburg. Once a year an ecumenical
service is held here. Since its establishment the Foundation has
special ties with the Committee for Culture of the St. Petersburg
Government. On the request of the committee it organises activities
directed towards the Netherlands in the multifunctional spaces of
this Church. A special programme commission is responsible for this.
Social
By means of exchange programmes with the Netherlands the
Foundation supports the qualitative strengthening of orphanages,
hospitals and schools in St. Petersburg.
Economical
The Foundation Friends of St. Petersburg supports initiatives and
existing activities of Dutch companies in St. Petersburg and advises
them, if so requested. It is achieving this by making contacts with
relevant target groups. It provides also office space at Nevsky
Prospekt for presentations, seminars, trade fairs and meetings.
Sports
The foundation also aims to promote contacts and exchange
programmes between clubs and individual sportsmen in
St. Petersburg and the Netherlands.
